Hello it’s Natalie again! Here I am giving you another glimpse into the wild and wonderful things that I’ve been up to in the Type Tasting studio this week. If fonts were to play the starring roles in a movie, how much would they tell you about each scene?
In this movie the fonts set the scene, provide the sound track, tell the the story and alter the mood. What do the typefaces tell YOU about this story as it unfolds? Take the survey and tell us at the end, here are some of the suggestions so far:

You are invited into a ‘typographic wonderland’ of interactive games and experiments involving fonts which are designed to surprise and intrigue. These explore our role as type consumers and show how type is woven into the rituals of our everyday lives. Each font/typeface has a personality that influences our interpretation of the words we read by evoking our emotions and setting the scene. Come along and you can be a part of this innovative research and be the first to find out the results.

The London Design Festival guide is out, time to pick the events you’d like to go to. Plan your festival well in advance as there is so much to do and the venues are spread across London. The Type Tasting sessions of interactive games and demonstrations with type will take place at the V&A on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September from 1-4pm each day. These are free to come along to and all are welcome, they’re not just for designers.

The Stoke Newington Literary Festival is an exciting event which celebrates this area in Hackney, London’s radical and literary history. I’m delighted that this is the second year Type Tasting will be involved. Join me for a ‘Taster’ in the studio where I will invite you to play some classic Type Tasting games.
