Type Tasting Global Lettering Typography Workshop at SXSW Austin, Texas
London based designer Sarah Hyndman is taking her Type Tasting venture to the US next week. She’s running a day long ‘Global Lettering Workshop’ at South by Southwest (SXSW) on Saturday March 8th.
I play with type
Shreyansh Agarwal sent in this lovely animation with request to be considered for work experience. Type Tasting isn’t yet at a stage where work placements are possible, but his application caught our attention because he’d clearly researched what we do before getting in touch and had crafted an email tailored to us.

South by Southwest 2 week countdown
It’s just two weeks until South by Southwest Interactive starts, described as a “massive festival, bringing together the brightest minds in digital media, technology, journalism, health, film, space, business, gaming and more, with hundreds of sessions, parties and meetups spread across dozens of venues around Austin.”
The Type Tasting Global Lettering Workshop is on Saturday March 8th and has been listed by Mashable as one of the ’38 SXSW 2014 Panels You Can’t Miss’
A Type Tasting birthday celebration of edible type

We celebrated Type Tasting’s first birthday with a day of edible type on Friday 14th February. Here’s a selection of the gastronomic typography and lettering created to mark the occasion.
Above: Nathan Dye’s chocolate TYPE cake, Helen Rawlinson’s peas thawing to the occasion, Sarah Hyndman’s edible rye bread Blackletter type “delicious with hummus” and Julie Muaro’s JOY in Breakfast Light, Regular & Extra Jam.
Edible calligraphy
Alice Mazzilli used soy sauce instead of ink, with a sprinkle of chilli powder to, paint edible calligraphy. And below Type Tasting’s Sarah Hyndman traced over Mike Meyer Script lettering in Dark+Milk Chocolate with Caramel Highlights.
Happy Valentype Day



Graphic Designer Karina Monger created a feast of letters and served up a ‘Happy Valentype Day’ banquet for #EdibleTypeFriday to celebrate Type Tasting’s first birthday.
Love & kisses to eat in 5 languages

A delicious series of typographic cookies and sweets made by Andreja Brulc and inspired by the ‘besos’ pan dulce eaten in Mexico on Valentine’s Day. “I made ‘love and kisses in five languages: English, Spanish, Slovene, Italian and German” she explains.
