London Design Festival 2016

The Bankside Design District will become a vibrant hub of typography and lettering for the London Design Festival this September. Type Tasting’s Type & Wine Tasting and What’s Your Type? workshops will be accompanied by a host of events from Better Letters and others. These include an intensive Hand Lettering Workshop from the inimitable Mike Meyer, a large Light Capsules x Ghostsigns projection and the launch of the new Bankside Ghostsigns Walk App.

‘Gems’ by Syd Hausmann“When I got the brief for this project, one of the first things that popped into my head were the colourful, spiky potatoes that debuted a few years on London’s bus shelters – and how much I loved them. And I thought of all the things that made the city so wonderful: the people, the things to do, the diversity, the energy.. but it’s the unexpected surprises that truly delight me. From a potato on a bus shelter to a whole new area in London previously unvisited, my word had to be: hidden gems.”

‘Ours’ by Oli Frape

Oli Frape is a hand-letterer and illustrator based in London. Hand-drawn type is the primary focus of his practice and is integral to his overall style and approach. His piece for Type Tasting is a combination of hand-drawn and painted.
