‘Vintage’ by Madeleine Jablonowska
“I chose the word vintage because I am attracted to vintage style things such as the style of certain benches in London (angels on the sides etc) and old street signs and road signs with a pointing hand. I learned French script when I lived in Paris and thought that style was vintage”
“I have also recently been reading the Daily Telegraph and have noticed the T which I also thought as vintage. I am very interested in art and go to many exhibitions, and am interested in photography so notice more things than if I was without my camera. I like lettering because I enjoy writing stories and doing art, and lettering is the equivalent of both. Also, art and stories are quite similar ‘a picture tells a thousand words’ and stories are a work of art, but they are still separate things. Lettering is a combination of the two. Ever since I moved from Paris to London, art has become a bigger and more interesting part of my life.”
