Type Tasting’s Sarah Hyndman is giving short typography talks as part of the Stoke Newington Literary Festival on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June. These take place in the Type Tasting studio during Open Studios Weekend at the Chocolate Factory N16.

A talk about typography: how it transforms the meanings of words and influences our choices. This is explored through the high street signage seen in the rapidly transformed Dalston, the location of the Type Safaris Sarah has been running for the last year. The talk takes place in the Type Tasting studio and is part of Open Studios Weekend at the Chocolate Factory N16.

There will then be an optional Type Safari Challenge for you to go and complete out on the streets of Dalston.

Sarah Hyndman set up Type Tasting in 2013. Since the launch she’s curated a mass participation Type Tasting exhibition at the V&A with the London Design Festival, been interviewed on Radio 4’s Today and recently took Type Tasting to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

​A talk about typography: from ACDC to Pulp, through prog rock, grunge and punk… the typography on record covers reveal a great deal about the history and development of type, and also charts the evolution of popular culture. The talk takes place in the Type Tasting studio and is part of Open Studios weekend at the Chocolate Factory N16.

TYPOGRAPHY POP UP SHOP

The Type Tasting Typography Pop Up shop will be open from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June for Open Studios Weekend at the Chocolate Factory N16. The Type Tasting studio will be full of all things typographic including screen printed posters, postcards and glow in the dark fairground letter prints.
